A Summary of My Experiences in Taiwan on Exchange

How can I possibly sum up my “experience” in Taiwan in one blog?

It feels like I would be doing the “experience” a great injustice if I did that.

So I’m not going to sum up my experience, instead, I’d like to just say what the experience meant for me. It opened up my eyes to the small but very alive country of Taiwan. The inter-mixing of native Taiwanese and Indigenous with Chinese Han culture, combined with subtle remainders of Japanese colonisation and finally the influence from the West, has made Taiwan culture into what it is - an wonderful interflux of different cultural, social and political ideologies.

I am without doubt, that my time in Taiwan has been the best time of my life. Meeting new friends, speaking a different language, living in a different place, re-living these experiences right now only makes me more sad to think that I’m leaving in 2 days. 

There will never, ever be an experience in my life that can replace my time here in Taiwan, perhaps value equally in greatness, but never replace, and for that I am eternally grateful for being given this chance to come to Taiwan and study at NTU, the number one university in Taiwan.

If I could give any advice to incoming/outgoing exchange students anywhere in the world. Don’t waste your time. Don’t get complacent. Because by the end of the experience you’ll wish you had more time, but you don’t. Spend every moment like as though it were your last.
